It is a very small, light, helpful, and easy-to-use tool. If you need to start your computer in DOS for whatever reason, Rufus is one of the best ways. It provides everything you need to work on a bare system, e.g. run a low-level utility, flash a BIOS or other firmware from DOS.

Rufus is mainly used to create USB installation media from Windows, Linux ISO file, which is used to install operating system on a computer. All versions of Rufus support ISO and allow the creation of a bootable USB from an ISO image (.iso).

You can create an ISO image from a physical disc or from a set of files using a free CD burning application, such as InfraRecorder or CDBurnerXP.

How To Use Rufus?

No Rufus For Mac or Linux!

You cannot use Rufus on Mac or Linux. This tool only works on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 10/8/7 only. The best Rufus Mac alternative is UNetbootin, which also works on Linux.

Rufus 2.18 For Windows XP & Vista!

New versions of Rufus 3.15 support Windows 7 or later OS. To use this tool on Windows XP or Win Vista, you need Rufus 2.18, which is the last version compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista.
