OptiFine 1.18 is one of the major updates of OptiFine that is released for Minecraft Java Edition 1.18. It is a stable release as opposed to the latest OptiFine version which is in its preview (beta) state and does not support Forge. If you are still on Minecraft (JE) 1.18, you can also use OptiFine without updating to Minecraft 1.20.
OptiFine improves Minecraft Java Edition’s performance by optimizing Minecraft’s standard coding. It adds options like FPS boost, FPS control, configurable animations & details, faster math, etc. These options help it boost performance. It also has support for Minecraft shaders and textures packs that modify Minecraft’s visuals to a great degree.

How to Install & Uninstall OptiFine 1.18

Installing OptiFine 1.18 in Vanilla Minecraft (JE)
Step 1: Download the OptiFine installer and you will see a file “OptiFine_1.18_HD_U_H3.jar”.
Step 2: Launch it & click Install.
Installing OptiFine 1.18 in Minecraft Forge
Step 1: Download OptiFine and you will see the file “OptiFine_1.18_HD_U_H3.jar”. Move it into the “Local Disk (C:) > Users > (Your PC Name) > AppData > Roaming > .minecraft > mods” folder.
Uninstalling OptiFine 1.18
If you have installed OptiFine into vanilla Minecraft (JE) then you can uninstall OptiFine 1.18 through the Minecraft Launcher. Go into the Versions tab then click on the three dots and from the drop-down menu click Uninstall.
To uninstall OptiFine from the Minecraft Forge version go to the mods folder in Minecraft’s directory and delete the “OptiFine_1.18_HD_U_H3.jar” file.
