Sildurs Enhanced Default Shaders enhances the visuals of Minecraft while maintaining its original vanilla look. It adds visual effects like shadows, reflections, TAA, god rays, etc. Although it does not modify the visuals to a great degree, it is still highly customizable and has almost no effect on Minecraft’s performance. This means that this shaders pack will run smoothly even on older hardware. It download has two different presets to choose from:
- Sildur’s Enhanced Default Shaders Fast: Prioritizes FPS over visuals, suitable for low-end hardware.
- Sildur’s Enhanced Default Shaders Fancy: Adds all visual effects included in the shader pack for maximum visual fidelity.
Instead of downloading an older version like Enhanced Default Shaders 1.20, 1.17.1, 1.16.5, 1.14.3, 1.14.1, 1.14, etc. get the latest version. This will have all the features of the previous versions including support for the latest Minecraft JE version.
Note: Sildurs Vibrant Shaders is another shader mod by SildurFX. It modifies Minecraft to a great degree and is perfect if you find the Enhanced Default Shaders not fancy enough.
System Requirements
This shader mod has almost no effect on Minecraft’s performance because of its lightweight features. This means it runs swimmingly on older hardware. However, it does require some prerequisites mentioned below:
- OptiFine (How to Install OptiFine into Minecraft guide linked here) or Iris Shaders (How to Install Iris Shaders into Minecraft guide is linked here).
- Java Runtime Environment (JRE). (The page linked also contains a guide on how to install JRE for Minecraft Java Edition).
- All versions of from Minecraft 1.7.10 to Minecraft 1.20.1 are supported.
How to Download & Install Sildurs Enhanced Default Shaders
Here’s a short guide on Sildurs Enhanced Default Shaders download & installation into Minecraft Java Edition.
Step 1: Download the latest version of the shaderpack from the top of this page.
Step 2: Move the shader pack’s zip file to the “shaderpacks” folder inside the Minecraft installation folder “Local Disk (C:) > Users > (Your PC Name) > AppData > Roaming > .minecraft > shaderpacks“.
Step 3: Launch the OptiFine or Iris Shaders profile from the Minecraft Launcher.
Step 4: To apply the in-game go to Video Settings, then look for the Shaders Menu and double-click on it.

This problem usually occurs when there is a sky texture pack installed along with this shader mod. An easy fix is to delete any texture pack that affects the sky’s texture.
It is independent of the Minecraft version. This means it will work with any version of Minecraft as long as OptiFine or Iris Shaders is installed.
Make sure to place it in the zip format you downloaded. Do not extract it before placing it into the shaderpacks folder. This should fix the problem.
