How to Unlock Swim Ability for Mount in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokémon scarlet and Violet will allow players to adventure through the Pladea region where players will get to defeat different Gym Leaders and Titans to claim the badges. Claiming the badges is the primary way to progress in the game and as you progress, you will unlock different abilities for your mount. Players can unlock the Swim Ability for their Mount by defeating the Open Sky Titan Pokémon which can be found on the West side of the Paldea Region.

Why Swim Ability is Important

Open Sky titan is one of the Titan Pokémon that players will have to defeat at some point in the game if they want to complete the story. However, it is advised to defeat this Titan as early as possible to unlock the Swimming ability for your Mount. Unlocking this ability will let you go to the places that require water/ocean to be crossed. Players will be able to get to the Northwestern side of Paldea Region by swimming in the water and explore the new areas to find different items.

How to Get to Open Sky Titan – Location

Open Sky Titan can be found on the West side of the Paldea Region, and it is ranked number 7 on the world map. The ranking is according to the easiest to hardest enemies and it is number 7 which means you can easily defeat it in the early game. The location of Open Sky Titan is directly to the West, and it can be found in West Province (Area One). The location is the same for both, Scarlet and Violet versions of the game.

Keep going in the west direction and cross through the West Province and you will see a flying Pokémon up on the mountain throwing Rocks. You need to go up the mountain by dodging the Rocks and then you will be able to encounter Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan.

How to Unlock Swim Ability for Mount in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Once you have made your way to Bombirdier, you need to defeat it with your top Pokémon. Bombirdier will fight you two times so, you will have to fight it two times in order to completely defeat it. You need to faint Sky Titan both times. Meaning, you have to deplete its HP both times.

Once you have defeated Bombirdier in the Battle, you will claim the Flying Badge and you will get a message from Professor Turo, telling you that you will be able to move across the water.
