A great way to preserve confidential or sensitive documents is to store them digitally.
This means that you scan them and store them on your PC/laptop. Later on, you can edit them (in word) and get yourself a printout.

On Windows
- Make sure your printer is connected to your system and to the wall outlet.
- Now, place the document face-down in your scanner.
- Click on the Windows Start button and type ‘Fax’ and ‘Scan’. A window will pop open.
- In the upper-left side of the Fax, click ‘New Scan’.
- Make sure you have the correct scanner connected. If you don’t see your scanner’s name, change it and select the appropriate one.
- You can furthermore, adjust the format of your document. For example; the colour formats, file type( e.g. PDF or JPG), resolution, brightness, and contrast and other options on the page.
- Preview your document before a scan. If something still needs to be readjusted, go back to the document and fix the problem.
- Save file to a location on your PC.
- Once done, hit ‘Scan’ and wait until the printer head moves across the paper. When it finishes, you should be able to find it in your selected save location.
On Mac
- Make sure your printer is connected to your system and to the wall outlet.
- Now, place the document face-down in your scanner.
- Click the Apple logo in the top-left corner of the screen. From the drop-down menu that appears, click ‘System Preferences’.
- Select printer-shaped icon which appears to be on the right-hand side of the System Preferences window.
- Select the appropriate scanner and click the ‘Scan’ tab.
- Next, click ‘open scanner’.
- You can furthermore, adjust the format of your document. For example; the colour formats, file type( e.g. PDF or JPG), resolution, brightness, and contrast and other options on the page. To do so, click show details at the lower-right side of the window.
- Save file to a location.
- Once done, hit ‘Scan’.
- Your document will begin scanning. Check the scanned document in your selected save location.
On iPhone
- Select and open the ‘Notes’ app icon.
- Tap the + icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Point your camera’s view at the document, better if focused at the centre.
- Use the shutter button or one of the volume buttons to capture the image.
- Further, refine the adjustments by dragging the corners of the scan, the tap ‘Keep scan’.
- Once done tap ‘Save’.
- Save your scanned document to a storage location.
On Android
- Tap on Google Drive icon.
- Select a folder in which you would like to save your scanned document.
- To the bottom-right of the screen, tap +. This opens a pop-up menu. Then tap the camera-shaped icon in the pop-up menu.
- This will open the phone’s (or tablet’s) camera
- Point your camera’s view at the document, better if focused at the centre.
- Press the capture button on your mobile phone. Now tap ✓ in the bottom right corner of the screen. This saves your scanned document.
- The last step is to save your scanned document onto your phone.
How do I e-mail scanned document?
Open a blank email message and add an attachment. Select the scanned document as an attachment.
How can I find my scanning software on your computer?
You can search or look for it in your Application folder.
How do I scan a two-sided page
To scan a double-sided document in ADF, go to Menu button>Scan setting>2sided scanning.
