Breeding Mechanic will allow players to breed Pokémon with their caught Pokémon. Breeding the Pokémon will give players one of the same Pokémon that they have but with higher stats than the original one. It is very helpful if players want to have more Pokémon of the same type but with different IVs, Stats, and Move Sets. Players will be able to build the Pokémon according to their preference.
In this guide, we’ll tell you how you can Breed Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
How Breeding Works in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
The process of Breeding needs Pokémon of the same species to be close to each other and there is only one way to get them close to each other and that is through a Picnic. When players start Picnic Mode, all the Pokémon in the current party will come out of the Poke Balls and start to play and roam around the Picnic Table. It is only during Picnic Time that they will be close to each other and players will have to wait for several minutes to find Pokémon Eggs beside the Picnic Table.
Pokémon will lay eggs automatically and the Eggs will be placed beside the Picnic Table inside the Basket. Players will have to take the Eggs from the Basket to go to the next step of Breeding. However, the game does not tell you that the Pokémon have laid eggs, players will have to check themselves in the basket. If they found an egg in the Basket it means that the Pokémon have laid eggs.
After that, the next step is simple, you just have to place the eggs in your current party and roam around in the Paldea Region until they hatch.
How to Breed in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
The main things that players need to understand to successfully Breed a Pokémon are the following.
- Put two Parent Pokémon of the same species in your current party. It does not matter if both have the same gender. You can place both males or both females but they have to be the same species.
- After you have placed the Pokémon species that you want to breed, go to any Flat land and start the Picnic.
- Wait at least 15 – 20 Minutes at the Picnic to find Pokémon Eggs in the Basket.
- Go to the Basket beside the Picnic Table to get the Eggs. You can get a maximum of 10 Eggs at one time.
- The Eggs will be stored in your Poke Boxes in the main menu. You need to put all the eggs in your current party.
- Now, you need to roam Paldea and wait for the Eggs to Hatch. Eggs will hatch one by one and each egg will take 10 – 15 minutes.
Each Egg that Hatch will give you the same species of the Pokémon that you put earlier in your current party.
How to Speed Up the Breeding Process of Pokémon
There is also a faster way to Breed the Pokémon in both of versions of the game. The process stays remains the same but it just requires extra items that give the Egg Buff which will make Pokémon lay eggs quicker during Picnic time.
To speed up the Breeding Process, you need to eat one of the following food items that give the Egg Buff.
- Marmalade
- Peanut Butter
- Fruit Sandwiches
Make Sandwich with Egg Power Buff
All of these ingredients can be bought from the ingredients shops from where you get Sandwich Ingredients. Buy any one of the items and then consume it to get the Buff. However, it is better to make the Sandwich that gives the Egg Buff because Sandwich Buffs are longer and more effective and you can easily make it at the Picnic Table.
Place the Fire-type Pokémon in Current Party
After making the sandwich, you can just wait for 5 – 10 minutes and then check the Basket to get the maximum number of Eggs.
After getting the eggs and putting them in your current party, try to go out in the hot places like Deserts or place a Fire Type Pokémon under or above the Eggs in your Current Party. Both of these techniques will decrease the time of hatching of eggs. The eggs will hatch under 5 minutes and all of the eggs will hatch in an hour.
All the Pokémon that you get from the Eggs will now be stored in the place of Eggs in your Current Party. You can change them at any time just by going into the Boxes option in the Main Menu.
