Are Combos Enough?
As you play through the tutorial of the game, you will get a window on the side of the screen showing you exactly how to do combos and deal damage to the enemies but players will might skip them as it is easy to do the combos with the Soldier Sword. You just have to mash the Attacking button to make Zack go crazy by hitting down the enemies. But are you dealing enough damage by doing the same combo that you can also do with Critical Hits.
How to do Critical Hits
There are many different attacks and attacking powers in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII – Reunion that players will get their hands on. All of the powers have the ability to deal Critical Damage to the enemies when they are used on the right moment.
In the prologue of the game, players will get the Tutorial of Battle in which they will be taught how the Orange or Yellow attacks work. These attacks are the Critical Hits that can deal double or even triple the amount of damage that you are doing with your Silver Hits. When you attack an enemy, you will only inflict the starting damage of your power which will be shown on the screen as Silver Damage dealt to the enemy. However, you can change it by doing the Orange or Yellow attacks during the combo to land the Critical Hit which will be shown on the Screen as Orange or Yellow Damage dealt to the enemy.
The Yellow Materia abilities like Assault Twister, Jump, etc. will do great damage to the enemies when they are used in between the combos of Zack.
Advantages of Critical Hits
The Critical Damage is always will be higher than the Silver Damage and it has its own advantages as well.
- Using the Yellow Materia Abilities during the combos will increase the damage output of Zack exponentially throughout the fight.
- It can be used to interrupt the enemy bosses from doing the charged attacks. You will see them pausing for a moment and charging an attack. If you hit them with the Critical Hits in this stage, their stance will break and it will interrupt their charged attack.
